This Pea Vine is the first in a series of smaller, single vines. Originally conceived as a 'long stem' type of sculpture, it grew a bit beyond my expectations into a 6 ft tall floor standing sculpture. Jack and his Beanstalk would presumably sympathize. But its no Giant, and the single wayward vine climbs simply and elegantly up a forged iron trellis. The piece has 4 pea pods and another 4 flowers. As I was finishing the vine and bending the tendrils, one in particullar ended in a hook that absolutely screamed for something to hang from it, and thus the glass spider was born.
I donated this piece to the Crucible's Fire Arts Festival 'Art Auction' in 2007.
