Space Peas 1999

This installation piece appeared on the playa at Burning Man in 1999.

These vining sweet peas are rumored to come from somewhere in the
outer solar system, the seed pods jettisoned into space by a
meteoric collision. The planet of origin remains a mystery.

Each vine grows on a rebar trellis and stands 6 - 7 ft. tall.
The green glowing pods have individual LED's for each pea seed,
and the glass flowers are bright white. Each pea pod and flower
glow softly on and off at a different rate, giving the entire piece
a highly fluid appearance as the light migrates from one spot to
another.
